Overview 

Stratagems is an innovative, on-chain strategy game where players act as gods, shaping a dynamic world island by island. The game world is a vast sea dotted with islands, each created and controlled by the players themselves. As gods, players deposit Ethereum to form new lands, choose the ruling factions, and watch as neighboring factions battle it out. The outcome of these conflicts determines who gains control of the Ethereum staked on losing islands, adding a layer of competitive strategy to the world-building.

Gameplay and Features

In Stratagems, each player's strategic choices directly impact the development of a dynamic world map. By depositing Ethereum, players can create islands, choosing which of the game’s factions will govern the new territory. This initiates interactions between neighboring islands, leading to conflicts or alliances depending on the factions involved. Each new island alters the strategic landscape, influencing not only its direct neighbors but also the overall balance of power on the map.

Turn-Based Strategy Mechanics

Stratagems operates on a daily cycle divided into two phases. The "commit phase" lasts 23 hours, during which players can plan their strategies, make moves, and modify them as needed before they are finalized. Once this phase ends, the "reveal phase" begins, lasting for one hour. During this phase, all moves are revealed and resolved simultaneously, ensuring that the strategic decisions of all players impact the game at the same time.

Social Interaction and Tactical Collaboration

A key feature of Stratagems is its emphasis on social strategy. Players are encouraged to communicate and potentially collaborate with others to form tactical alliances. The knowledge of another player’s strategies can provide significant advantages, making diplomacy and negotiation crucial aspects of gameplay. This social interaction adds a layer of complexity, as players must decide whether to trust and cooperate with others or compete against them aggressively.

Stratagems leverages the Base blockchain to secure player actions and strategies in a transparent and immutable manner. The game utilizes Ethereum for staking on territories. This blockchain integration ensures that all moves are transparent and verifiable.

How to Get Started

Stratagems is currently in the alpha testing phase, which you can participate in via their official website. This playtest is hosted on the Base blockchain and requires players to use specific "tokens" that can be requested through their Discord channel. Since Stratagems is an on-chain game, every move you make will result in a transaction that incurs minimal Ethereum gas fees. Be sure to have some ETH available in your wallet to cover these costs as you explore and interact with the game.
